1st Middleton Cheney Scout Group

Welcome to 1st Middleton Cheney Scout Group

The Scouting Organisation was established in the village over one hundred years ago, and is still going strong today. There is a Beaver Colony, a Cub Pack and a Scout Troop that meet weekly at the Scout Hut in Midway, offering an array of activities, making new friends and have fun and games for children aged 6 to 14.

Here are some Scout 'kNOTS':

Scouting is not just for boys - girls have been part of Scouting for over 25 years.

Scouting is not for everyone - but there are over 30,000 boys and girls waiting to join - all Groups around the UK need more leaders, including ours. There are now approx. 573,000 people involved in Scouting in the UK alone.

Scouts do not say 'dyb, dyb, dyb' - they haven't done so since the 1960s, but they still 'do their best'.

Scouting is not about Bob-a-Job week - but it is good for you in getting a job, as the skills you develop as a young person or adult, such as teamwork and leadership, can be used on your CV. Adult leadership training is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Scouting is .....

.... about having fun and meeting and conquering new challenges - it could be as simple as making friends with those you have never met before, using a real bow and arrow in Archery, camping in a tent overnight away from home, planning to provide a service to the community, teaching a skill you have to another Scout.

Watch a series of videos about Scouting on YouTube through this link:

We also encourage parents to get involved in the Scout Group. This could be keeping the grounds tidy, supporting a section's activity one evening, or an event, you may like to help others lead a section, or prefer to help away from the main group activity by supporting the Executive Committee in running the building, looking after the accounts, taking the minutes to a meeting.... the possibilities are endless. Scouting is a community activity that you and your child can both be involved in together.

Notes for this year, 2016:

The year will see celebrations for both Beavers and Cubs across the country, as they mark their 30th and 100th anniversaries.

District and County parties, visits and activity camps are planned across the year
